Punch Blog Launch

After literally months of late nights, tantrums and histrionics, the new Punch site has just gone live, courtesy of a lovely man by the name of James Ryder. The second version of the site launched around last April (2007) with a radical overhaul of the homespun version that had served adequately up to that point. This was a major leap forward for the business and coincided with a complete brand refresh.

This latest incarnation of the site is actually not radically different aesthetically. However there are one or two fairly significant differences which really underscore our position as being more aware of latest tech developments than the majority of PR agencies in my experience.

Firstly of course there's the blog. Aside from offering myself and the team a platform to rant at will, the SEO (search engine optimisation) benefits are significant and well documented.

Moreover, a major element of the new launch has focused on creating what's known as 'Search Friendly URLs' - which, simply put, means that the webpages are given names which can be read by the search engines and feature words that are relevant to the content, as opposed to a string of characters that have no meaning to the human eye and which Google therefore rejects.

The Punch team has recently expanded significantly so we have incorporated leading edge tools such as Twitter - which is something i'm increasingly finding useful to distribute news - and each profile features downloadable vcards with contact details along with Linked In details.

Finally, our news pages again feature links to the leading social media and bookmarking sites, such as Digg, Del.icio.us, Technorati etc, enabling readers of our news items to distribute information both freely and with ease.

So again , a massive thank you to the site's creator, James, and I look forward to many additional blog posts over the coming days, weeks and months to keep Punch ahead of the field.
