Solzhenitsyn & Tennis

As a snapshot on the nonsense that gets spouted here on a regular basis, I felt duty bound to record this.

We just had a conversation about books (based on the fact my daughter didn't want me to leave this morning and wanted me to read her a book before I left, which Phil assumed was probably something by Tolstoy.)

Anyway, one of my all time favourite books is One Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. On asking the team if anyone had read 'Ivan Denisovich', I was met with the response: "Didn't he win Wimbledon?". Brilliant.

To be fair, Phil asked if I knew of Emile Zola, which brought to mind a certain Italian Footballer.

Wonder how many literary/sporting crossover figures we can find? There's a raging dispute going on here as I write as to whether Cantona qualifies in both categories.

And so our day, as Public Relations 'professionals', goes...
