A Refreshing Change

This morning we have been shuffling around the office layout to prepare for the delivery of a new desk following yesterday’s delivery of a new team member, George. I’m looking forward to sitting down with my new colleague later in the day to find out a bit more about him and help him get settled in to some of the projects he will be working on. I already know George lives in a village called Quorn, which quite obviously instigated a discussion about vegetarianism, and his birthday is 4 days before mine, meaning he’s a Sagittarius, like me, and therefore he must be pretty super, like me!!! So on behalf of us all - welcome, George, we’re delighted to have you on board.

With the slight shift around my phone won’t reach to where I had it before so I’ve taken the opportunity to revise my whole my desk layout. I know it’s very sad but I love having a change and I think I used to drive my Mum mad moving my bedroom around every couple of months. The feeling of a new, fresh space always rejuvenates me and I’m now already thinking what I can change at home, if I can persuade my other half to let me that is. I know it’s not always that easy to change office spaces around when it’s not a necessity because of power points, lengths of cables and the disruption it can cause but I would encourage everyone to reposition the bits and pieces they have one their desk once in a while – I promise it’s refreshing!

A lot of people spend more hours at their desk than in their own living room so as long as there isn’t a stern office policy in place, I think it’s important to have a little personal something around you to make you smile when you need it. Erica, whom I sit opposite, and I have already talked about getting a little plant to brighten up our days. Just like Calamity Jane and Katie Brown (oh, how we love Doris Day!) we’ll give our space ‘A Woman’s Touch’ before too long.
