A Very Social Birthday

We’ve been celebrating a lot of birthdays lately. Punch has just celebrated its eighth birthday and now today is my birthday. I love birthdays. I get excited with the prospect of celebrating and count down from as early as a month away. I am sure I annoyed everyone in the office announcing how many days until my birthday, but I don’t care. With the advent of social media, it has made celebrating birthdays that much better.
One of my favourite things about birthdays is receiving birthday cards. Getting messages on Facebook, Twitter and now Google+, is like a virtual birthday card. Viewing messages from friends I don’t get to see or talk to regularly makes the day even more special. Facebook’s birthday reminder tool has helped me remember far away friends’ birthdays, so I make a point of posting on their wall too. Birthdays are one of the many ways that social media and social networking actually helps us stay social. So happy birthday to me... I'm off to eat cake!
