Second blog post, second week at Punch and although I've been looking forward to writing this, I've been having trouble deciding what to say - and that's not because I have nothing to write about, it's because I've been doing, reading and learning so much.
Delving deep into the technical side of on and off-site search engine optimisation (SEO) has been intriguing to say the least and any business that wants to use its website as a vehicle to attract customers or clients should be thinking about it. Where do you go when you want to find a company or some information? I bet it's the internet and I know you use a search engine. It's probably Google if you're in the UK and I also guess you never go beyond the top 30 results. The secret to climbing up the rankings is to think about what words you would write if you were searching for what your company offers. Then create two connecting strategies, on and off-site, around these key terms. One is for your site content, including links and meta data, and the other is around getting links, backlinks, from external web locations pointing to your pages.
If you've done your research or employed a good SEO Agency to assist, you should see a change in the search engine result pages. However, some terms will be ultra competitive so choose carefully and don't expect transformation overnight. Although straightforward at a base level, I can't pretend reviewing and upping your SEO activity is an undemanding job. Nevertheless, it's worth considering because greater internet visibility could be the key to your commercial success.
