Celebrity Silence

If you follow a lot of celebrities on social media, you may notice that they have gone quiet on 1st December. In honor of World Aids Day, celebrities across the globe are participating in Digital Life Sacrifice, a $1 Million fundraiser for Keep A Child Alive charity, led by singer/songwriter Alicia Keys.
Keys has handpicked celebrities with devout social media followers from tennis star, Serena Williams to pop stars, Justin Timberlake, Usher and the queen of social media Lady Gaga. Each celebrity involved has created a “last Tweet and testament” representing a “digital death”. These are being broadcast on the “Keep A Child Alive” website.
Once the charity has raised their target of $1 Million, the celebs will break their silence and return to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. This is a great example of how celebrities can empower and influence their fans through social media for a charitable organization.
