Logos are just one part of creating an overall brand identity and after a while they become a symbol of brand love and loyalty. Consumers take comfort in recognizing a logo when far from home. When a brand suddenly changes their badge consumers can react negatively; gone are comfort, loyalty and even identity. Recently, a brand changed their logo with no warning to their loyal consumers. So it wasn't surprising when this change was not received with open arms and consumers quickly turned to social media.

Social media channels have become platforms to campaign for change, or change back in this case. Fans quickly logged on to Facebook and reached out. The brand's page received over a thousand posts expressing the dislike of the new logo. Twitter campaigns were started in a matter of hours demanding the old logo back. The brand engaged with their consumers on the social media channels, listened to its followers and decided to change the logo back.

In this case, it was a shock logo change, but social media channels allow brands to test ideas, share thoughts and get feedback from the people who matter most, their consumers.
