The Thought That Really Does Count: Couples Go Wild for Extra-Special Gifts this Valentine’s Day
Posted: Friday 11 February, 2011
Thousands of couples across the UK are choosing to help save wild animals this Valentine’s Day by purchasing gifts for each other that help save the world’s most threatened species, says WWF.
According to the leading global conservation organisation WWF, couples are helping to safeguard endangered species by purchasing wildlife Valentine’s gifts. With nearly a quarter of all mammal species and a third of amphibians threatened with extinction, WWF’s Help Save Wild Animal boxes allow shoppers to support their global conservation work to protect and conserve animals and their habitats.
Instead of purchasing more traditional gifts of flowers and chocolates for their loved ones, couples are opting to do something a bit different this year by helping to save wild animals with the Help Save Wild Animal boxes from wwf.org.uk/shop. Packed with an adorable key ring and fold-out animal facts leaflet, the Help Save Wild Animal boxes have proved particularly popular this year with couples looking to put that little bit of extra thought into their gifts.
Upon purchasing the Help Save Wild Animal boxes, shoppers can also choose to adopt a wild animal by signing up to WWF’s adoption scheme with a special offer enclosed inside. With a huge choice available, couples can choose which wild animal they would like to adopt, from a Giant Panda, Bengal Tiger, Orang-utan, Bottlenose Dolphin, Asian Elephant, Polar Bear, Black Rhino, Adelie Penguin, Amur Leopard and Hawsbill Turtle.
Howard Wright of WWF-UK, said: “The WWF Help Save Wild Animal boxes will appeal to all those couples who are keen animals lovers that want to support our work and give an extra special and meaningful Valentine’s gift. All the gifts we offer are an excellent way for WWF to raise awareness of endangered species, providing much needed funds that continue to support the many global WWF projects currently underway.”
This year also signifies the WWF’s 50th birthday, a special landmark that WWF are celebrating with the launch of their 50th anniversary range of gifts highlighting the organisation’s causes.
