If you follow me on Twitter or have read my previous post, you will know that I went to Cybermummy – The UK’s premiere blogging conference. It was a fantastic experience to interact with the powerful community of ‘Mum Bloggers’. Although the conference is called ‘CyberMummy’, it incorporates all sorts of bloggers that happen to be parents. There are a few Dads, Foodies, Crafters and Eco bloggers. They all have one thing in common - they have a voice and something to share.
I was particularly inspired and impressed with the keynote speakers, Sarah Brown and Rachel Johnson. These are women who I think use their role in the eye of the public in a good way. Sarah Brown shared her story of how she used social media as a ‘voice to enable change’. The panel “How to Become a Blogger Activist” (live blogged by @Jamandcream)where Rosie, Liz, Sian and Josie shared their journeys to Cameroon and Bangladesh, respectively showed how these four women used the power of social media to help communities in need.

Rachel Johnson talked about her life as a mum and how she started The Mummy Diaries before blogs even existed. As a publisher of a magazine she not only uses print media, but also social media to share her point of view. One of the things she said that stuck with me applies to blogs, tweets, news articles, basically the written word, "Once it's out there you cannot control it”, so you better be happy with what you say.
I have come away from this conference with some fantastic ideas, amazing new friends and contacts and insight into the blogging world. It’s good to be blogging.
