GTrek -The Gadget that Integrates with Google Earth To Give Dad a Highly Detailed Visual and Statistical Overview of His Activities
Struggling to find that truly original gift for Fathers Day that's sure to put a smile on his face? Give him something to talk about with his mates next time he's in the pub with GTrek, the latest in palm size gadgetry that monitors speed, altitude and distance during outdoor activities and then overlays the collected information on to Google Earth.
Using GPS satellite technology, the GTrek records the users' exact position at regular intervals to build up a picture of their location and movement patterns - making it the perfect gift for any father with an interest in outdoor activities.
The versatile and easy to use gadget serves for many different outdoor activities and has already been enthusiastically taken up by individuals involved in skiing, cycling, mountain biking, golfing, walking, running, driving, boating and horse riding to mention a few.
How far, how fast and how high the user has travelled is just part of the data collected by the GTrek. The information is then presented in the form of graphs and charts as well as a visual representation of the information that is overlaid onto Google Earth once attached to a PC or laptop. The created 'movement map' then allows the user to see where they have travelled on a specific 3D terrain map.
The product can be configured to record as much as one location per second, giving over 16 hours storage or for periods in excess of 66 hours, allowing the user to develop a highly detailed or rather more general profile of there activity according to requirements.
John Bird, co-founder of the GTrek, commented:
"The GTrek is the perfect gift for any active father on Father's Day; it adds an entirely new dimension to all outdoor activities. It allows the user to keep hold of those memorable days in a unique format that can be returned to whenever required, making it an ideal for lovers of the outdoors. The Google Earth overlay is a fantastic part of its capabilities and it really feels like the whole experience is being virtually relived."
As a stand-alone device it can record up to 65,000 individual records which are stored in internal memory ready to be downloaded to a PC. The product comes complete with chargers, all necessary leads and software which can be adapted to many different outdoor pursuits, presenting the information in an appropriate way for each activity - for example average and maximum altitude, average and maximum speed.
