Disconnected

I’m usually tethered to my computer or my mobile. I quickly check in on Foursquare, update my status on Facebook, or browse Twitter for updates, but yesterday I decided to turn off.
I saw a lot of people posting their memories of the fateful day 10 years ago, but I didn’t want to recount. I attempted to, but just managed to write a few words before escaping to the solitude of my bedroom for my own minutes of silence.

10 years ago, I lived in New York and was there when it happened. I remember the chaos, uncertainty and of course, the terror. For some reason this year, maybe because it was the 10 year anniversary, there was a lot more coverage, which has in turn, sparked the choked up feeling every time I recount that day. I’m glad that people are able to share their stories via blog posts, tweets and Facebook updates, but I decided that yesterday I would just disconnect and spend some quality time with my family away from technology.
Sometimes, you have to disconnect to re-connect.
