With many application updates bringing small enhancements and bug fixes, a recent Google+ app update for Android and iOS comes with some more exciting prospects – users of the app now have the ability to join live Hangouts from mobile devices.

Previously only accessible to desktop users, Hangouts have proved to be a popular element of Google+. From family catch ups to business meetings to brand Q&As, the multi-way video chat capabilities have, and continue to help users stay connected – and now they can do so on the go.

The new app update will not only appeal to frequent Hangout users, but I also foresee it having a positive impact on the number of mobile users downloading the app and may even increase the number of people signing up to and using the social network as a whole.

With life becoming increasingly mobile, this app update represents the next step in Google+ becoming a leading social networking site. I anticipate that it will create new opportunities for users to find fresh and innovative ways of using the Hangout function, with news outlets, politicians and even musicians like Daria Musk having already paved the way.

I for one can’t wait to Hangout on the go.
