Happy candy anniversary

Today marks six years since I crossed the Atlantic to reside in the UK. I have adapted quite easily to the cultural changes and have made England my home. From the deep south of Brighton to the very middle in Leicestershire, I really couldn't imagine life any other way. I have learned to drive on the wrong side of the road. I can make a proper cup of tea and even whip up some scones to go with it.

Although, I have adapted, I still hold fast to my American accent and vocabulary.Traditionally, the sixth year anniversary is commemorated by candy. This is one word I don't think I'll ever change in my vocabulary. I just can't call it "sweets" or "chocolates"...it's candy! Or sweetcorn, it's just corn. There's no sour corn! I could go on. I guess you can take the girl out of America, but you can't take America out of the girl. Happy candy anniversary to me, here's to many more years of embracing British culture and clashing at the same time.
