Sponsorship of Hertfordshire’s Rural Tigers Provides Aid To Africa

UWA Primary School's football team, based in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania will be playing its next game in a brand new matching team kit for the first time, thanks to the benevolence of Bengeo Tigers FC of Hertford, Hertfordshire and Ware-based Mer, the highly recognised and trusted car care and valeting brand.

The donation of the team kit is the result of a sponsorship deal between Mer and Bengeo Tigers FC, in partnership with charity Childreach International which presented the Football kit to the UWA Primary School team.

Ware-based Mer, which has been manufacturing premium car care and valeting products for over 40 years has recently provided Bengeo Tigers FC U11 with a brand-new bright blue team strip, allowing the team to donate their previous kits to the children of Tanzania. As part of a project led by Childreach International, which helps with a number of fundraising projects, volunteers visited a disadvantaged primary school in Uwa and presented the football kits to the pupils.

Caroline Pickering, a volunteer of Childreach International said: "The children of Uwa were so thrilled with their new kits and their smiles were absolutely infectious. I'll never forget their faces when they saw their new kit for the first time. They had never worn a proper kit before. Usually, when they played against another school, they all wore any t-shirts and shorts they could find which never matched. When trying on their new kit, they couldn't believe that they had real numbers on their backs, and they kept admiring each other. They immediately went out to play on their dusty earth pitch, and all took off their new team socks in case they ruined them!".
