Monstermind Blasts onto Facebook as Friends Go Head to Head in Attack
Posted: Monday 19 September, 2011
As any gamer knows, monsters, sci-fi, explosive weapons and b-movie scenarios are all extremely compelling gaming assets, now combine them together, throw in some friendly rivalry via the world’s most successful social network and you have Monstermind – the first real-time social game smashing its way onto Facebook from 22 September.
Monstermind, which is currently in open beta, is the brainchild of London-based Bossa Studios. A team of die-hard gamers, designers, programmers and animators, who have worked together over the past year to create a game that truly breaks the traditional social games’ mould and is sure to be a hit with casual and veteran gamers, alike.
As players enter the game, they are given a 1950’s inspired tutorial of the city they are now invited to build and defend – before their first unavoidable monster attack arrives! In addition to building and protecting their city from Doctor Doomsday (an AI controlled-character), players also need to defend against monsters unleashed by their friends, or prepare for an attack on their friends.
Monsters, artillery, businesses, houses, the city infrastructure and protection can be acquired through successful gameplay and Facebook credits.
Founding partner of Bossa Studios, Henrique Olifiers, explains:
“We wanted to create a game that tested the boundaries of current social games on the market and one that combined horror, adventure and action. Our main aim was to make Monstermind fun and accessible to all, so we have provided players with intensive levels of tactical engagement and that all important spice of hard core gameplay, which won’t however alienate casual gamers.”
Roberta Lucca, marketer-in-chief at Bossa, added:
“From our focus group research we have found young adult players have really enjoyed the friend vs friend real-time play and now we can’t wait to officially unveil the game to 30,000+ gamers at Eurogamer Expo next week. It will be fantastic to see what they think about the competitive multiplayer experience not yet seen on current social media titles.”
Bossa Studios also announces its acquisition by Shine Group today. As part of Shine Group, it will devise content exclusively for the social networking space and develop new cross platform content assets. The studio will also work with existing Shine Group properties.
