My mini snowman

Deepest darkest winter has hit the UK early this year and reports say we have not had widespread snow like this in November for 17 years. We have all made it into the office today but with some people like Holly and George who come from small villages with icy hills it was touch and go. Despite having to be careful on the country roads – there is in fact an Audi in a ditch just by the entrance to Punch to remind us to drive delicately – it was a really enjoyable journey because of the beautiful vistas.
Luckily, Market Harborough and Northampton (where I live) are in the middle belt, meaning we often miss the eastern and western flurries but we were blessed with an inch or so of the white stuff over night. However, being from ‘oop north near’t moors’ this is nothing compared to what I had to suffer as a child; I clearly remember being dragged to school by my Mum’s hand in horrible blizzards, past drifts bigger than me. I am also very proud of driving over Saddleworth Moor about 6 years ago when it was officially closed, following the tracks that I hoped were the road with snow scraping on the underside of the car next to 6 foot drifts! Scary but exciting too!
The farm we are based on obviously has more snow than in the centre of town but still not enough to make a proper snowman; building a snowman is just one of those universal benchmarks for exactly how much snow has fallen in your garden. However, Sony Ericsson’s latest Facebook campaign, Mini Magic, includes a competition where people need to upload a photograph of something miniature to enter. A perfect excuse for a smaller than usual snow creation! I made him earlier and took a photo for the Sony Ericsson Facebook contest – I hope you like him and it inspires you to get out and be creative in the wintery weather.
