New job, new traditions
I can't believe I have just finished my second week at Punch and Easter is already here. It's been trial by fire, but I say bring on the challenges. Where does the time go?!
Easter was always about baskets and brunch when I was a kid. The Easter Bunny would fill our baskets with loads of treats like small stuffed bunnies, jelly beans and miniature Reece's Peanut Butter Cups. We would search around the house for hidden eggs that were decorated the day before and fill our boots with sugary goodness. A special dress was purchased for the occasion of going out to brunch and family photos were taken.
I'll be celebrating my 5th Easter in the UK. I've been indoctrinated into a new tradition of Sunday lunch, rather than brunch and pre-packaged Easter Eggs from various confectioners rather than baskets filled with treats and small toys.
While I try to hold on to the traditions of my youth, I am slowly embracing the change. I really enjoy having the long weekend to spend with my family, Sunday lunch is just as nice as brunch, but I still hold fast with the Easter Basket. The giant chocolate egg just isn't a replacement. I think I will find a happy medium to merge the two and create new traditions for my new family.
Thank you, Easter Bunny! *bawk, bawk*
