Parkour Madness

Having spent part of this afternoon researching the art of Parkour for Punch client Fitness Footwear I have uncovered something quite astonishing.

For those of you that don’t know, Parkour is the art of moving through the environment using only your body and your surroundings by running, jumping and climbing over obstacles. Picture super-fit individuals leaping from three storey buildings and jumping over railings and you’re halfway there…

What is quite astounding is that some Parkour enthusiasts do this in their local city centre completely barefoot! Now, quite apart from the obvious hazards lurking in most city centres such as broken glass, puddles (nobody likes wet feet) and discarded chewing gum (yuck!) I can only imagine this must be an extremely painful pastime, but according to traceurs (as Parkour enthusiasts have come to be known) barefoot Parkour is fantastic for strengthening the feet and improving balance.

Right I’ve taken off my stilettos and I’m off into town to see what buildings I can find to leap off – wish me luck!
