World wide web, the very first global browser developed by Tim Berners-Lee, celebrated its 20th birthday last week. Who knew that the web would be the lifeblood of our lives today? Over the years we’ve seen a few web browsers come and go, all of them allowing search functions and access to the many websites around. From the early days of Netscape and Internet Explorer to the latest Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome everyone has their own preference for which is the best.
I recently received an invitation to the latest launch of a social browser called RockMelt. I have to say that I love it. As a frequent user of Facebook , Twitter and all sorts of other social media channels, this browser combines it all together. On the left edge of my screen live all of my online Facebook friends, which allows me to say hello or send a message without the added process of opening a new tab or window. On the right edge of my screen I can add all of my usual social media sites for quick snapshot of what’s happening on my Twitter feed, Facebook wall, and the latest posts from the blogs I follow. RockMelt is time saving as well as fun! I still switch between other browsers because they all have their own unique functions, but RockMelt has quickly become my favourite.
