Something Old, Something New…

This Saturday just passed, I witnessed my childhood friend becoming someone’s wife. The blessing was beautiful and the whole wedding day was filled with laughter, tears and photos – so many photos!
Old and young, people were capturing moments from the big day on a range of devices from bulky old digital cameras to smartphones and advanced compact system cameras, in addition to the professional photos. I realised the next day that all of these photos were floating around on social networking sites or on family computers and not in one pooled resource. I felt disappointed that I couldn’t see all of the photos taken on the day as I wanted to see more than just the angles I had caught.

It wasn’t until the morning after the wedding when I was uploading my photos that I heard about Wedpics. A new app for Android and IOS, this photo application was created specifically for weddings. An account with a personalised code is set up for $99 after which the bride and groom pass the code out to friends and family who can upload their pictures to this one account. It is presented in a Pinterest fashion and is a great way for everyone from the whole wedding to share excitement in each other’s shots from the day in one huge online photo album.
I recommended Wedpics to my friend as soon as I discovered it. I can’t wait to see other people’s snaps from the special day, especially the candid ones which are always so fresh and natural. The photos remain online for a year and can be kept up for longer with an additional fee. I think this app is one of the best wedding presents you can give the happy couple, as whether viewed online or from a smartphone, the album can be revisited long after the wedding day.
