Sometimes, It's Worth Looking Backwards
Sometimes, It's Worth Looking Backwards

It's rare that I look backwards, at least in a commercial context. For example, the accounting process is an area where I'm forever looking forwards rather than looking at our historical figures.
However, on the eve of a much-anticipated holiday and, at the risk of being a little introspective, I thought it worth pausing to look at what we have achieved this year.
From the start of the year Punch has grown fairly significantly, in terms of headcount, revenue, number of offices and number of clients. The types of work we're now doing are significantly more diverse than previously, with stand alone and integrated PR, Search and Social Media projects currently in play, and agency billings broadly split across the three disciplines.
We have reached a headcount of 18, which is a fairly significant milestone for me personally, not least because there were 18 people at the first agency I joined back in 1995 - and I distinctly remember thinking that it was fairly sizeable at the time. There are still no delusions of grandeur on my part but it's fair to say that we're now a little less small than we were not so long ago.
It's still all to play for of course - and I'm well aware that there will be ups and downs in the year ahead, which is a perennial feature of agency life. However, with meetings lined up in five countries across three continents within the first few weeks of next year and a great deal of interesting conversations already underway, we're looking forward to pushing even further ahead with our vision of an integrated approach to PR, Search and Social Media in 2011.
