There’s nothing like a good old chinwag!

With the ongoing developments in the world of social media continuing apace, it is now easier than ever to keep up to date with friends, family and business contacts at the click of a button, touch screen, key or whatever your mode of choice, through the vast array of social networking tools. To me however, there is nothing that can beat getting together with a group of mates and having a really good catch up, preferably over a chilled glass of wine. I am looking forward to such a chinwag on Saturday.

This weekend, in my home village of Kibworth, weeks of frantic fundraising are culminating in a 24 hour Relay For Life event in aid of Cancer Research. Over the past couple of months, endless cakes have been baked, coffee mornings planned, little darlings sponsored for some incredible endeavours, mind boggling quiz questions tackled, plastic ducks raced down rivers and other amazing and ingenious ways to raise funds for this very worthy cause, which has touched so many people's lives.

For 24 hours, the village will come together in a temporary camp (no Boris Johnson, you can't close this one down!) based up at Kibworth Football Club. Each team is required to have one of their members on the track for the whole 24 hours, while the rest of the team eat, drink and be merry. There is entertainment a plenty, live music and stalls run by the teams to raise yet more funds.
What more can you ask for? A great day out, bringing the whole village together in the sunshine (hopefully) and the best bit is all that catching up with friends. Come along, it's going to be fun!
