Why Do I Dislike Friends Reunited?

So, for the first time, I've just deleted one of my social media profiles - and strangely enough it was the first one I ever set up, way way back, with Friends Reunited.
I'm not quite sure why I dislike Friends Reunited - at first I recall thinking it was interesting and I guess it has the gratification of voyeurism, in terms of taking a peek at what people are up to, without having to actually go and meet them than at a (*shudder*) reunion. In hindsight, the acquisition/collection of ‘friends' on Facebook is far more compelling not least because it is more far-reaching/less limited in terms of both current and past friends and contacts, rather than the focus on life at school, which is in no way relevant to my current life.
To be honest, having now played with social media for a good few many years, I can forsee absolutely no reason whatsoever why I'd want to either contact or be contacted by people from my long forgotten schooldays. So, rather than leave my out-of-date personal details out of date, I thought the simplest solution was simply to delete it.
Feels weird and as though I'm somehow being either unnecesarily fickle or betraying my passion for the web, perhaps because it was there even before my Linked In profile was live. In reality, I don't really use Facebook for personal reasons now, preferring Del.icio.us, Twitter and Spotify, for example, at present, both in and out of work, along with my blog.
