Happy New Decade!

Here at Punch, innovating around the latest trends is a huge part of what we do – looking out for new opportunities and helping our clients differentiate themselves with bold, original campaigns.

This time last year, we shared our inaugural Social Trends report, reflecting on the biggest trends of 2018 and predicting what the clickable, scrollable world would look like in 2019. We also launched our Social Hype chart; a week-by-week update of the key trends shaping the social landscape, via our LinkedIn and Instagram channels. We’ve received an overwhelmingly positive response from our friends and clients and are excited to see what the big social updates will be over the next 12 months.

It’s been an interesting process looking back at our predictions for 2019 – where we struck gold, where things are still developing and where growth surpassed our expectations. As ethics and integrity became a huge talking point for platforms, we also saw shoppable content really come into its own last year and we witnessed the phenomenal rise of TikTok – the little karaoke craze taking the tough-to-crack Gen Z market by storm. Which brings us to 2020…

We believe this will be the year that users reevaluate their social habits, taking time out where necessary and looking at the kind of content they interact with through fresh eyes. As a result, it will become more important than ever to ensure we create thumb-stopping content that really resonates with its intended audience. What will this look like?
